For Foreign Investors

Add it to your vacation checklist

Foreign investors in Mexican real estate need a Mexican tax ID (RFC). It's a quick, one-time errand — less than an hour at a local SAT office. Covest coordinates everything: scheduling, document prep, and on-the-ground support so you can focus on enjoying Mexico.

Three Simple Steps

How it works

We handle the logistics so you can treat this as a quick stop on your trip.

1

Tell us when you're visiting

Share your approximate travel dates and we'll schedule your SAT appointment at a convenient office near your destination. No paperwork on your end — we prepare everything in advance.

2

Quick stop at SAT

Visit the SAT office for less than an hour. Your appointment is pre-arranged, documents are pre-prepared, and bilingual support is available if you need it. No surprises.

3

Your RFC is ready

Your RFC number is typically issued the same day or within a few business days. Once registered, it's yours permanently — one visit, permanent RFC for all your Mexican investments.

Document Checklist

What to bring

Covest prepares your complete document package in advance. Here's what you'll need on the day of your appointment.

Valid passport

Original passport with at least 6 months validity. We'll prepare a certified copy in advance.

Proof of Mexican address

A utility bill, bank statement, or property document showing a Mexican address. If you don't have one, Covest can provide a registered address for your RFC filing.

CURP (if available)

Your Clave Única de Registro de Población. If you don't have one yet, SAT can issue it during your appointment.

Active email address

SAT will send your electronic signature (e.firma) credentials to this email. Use an address you check regularly.
